Cibolo Livery Stables
Have you ever had to plan a horse show or event, but wanted to
find someplace out of the ordinary? Trey Martin of Bulverde,
Texas had a dream to build such a facility - something that could fit the
varied interests of horse people, something different, eye-catching and very
unique.
The beautiful and unique Cibolo Livery Stables sits on 53 acres,
minutes north of San Antonio just outside of Bulverde, Texas. The Martin's
purchased the ranch property in 1993; with the idea of building an
all-inclusive boarding, training and rodeo/horse show facility.
The construction of the Martin's dream facility has taken 13
years of careful planning and building in stages. The initial 22 stall barn
was once owned by San Antonio Arabians, the home of Cass Ole, the black
Arabian stallion who portrayed the Black Stallion. The Martin's purchased
this barn in 1997 at an auction and they were disassembled, moved and
rebuilt on the property and a tack room and office were added. In 1999 the
arena, bleachers, restrooms and a concession stand were built. A covered
pavilion area; with an outdoor fireplace and dance floor were built in 2002,
along with the acquisition of a couple of antique wagons and windmill to add
some more character to the property. There is also a bunkhouse on the
property, which is very convenient for instructors and clinicians for
clinics and seminars.

In 2004, Yancey James took over the management of the boarding
and arena operations. Yancey is a close friend and former PRCA/PBR cowboy
and trained with and honed his horsemanship skills under the guidance of
Leon Harrel, 2-time World Champion and NCHA Hall of Famer and Lance Harrel,
a NCHA hall of famer and an equally accomplished horseman of Kerrville,
Texas.
Yancey has an excellent lesson, full care boarding, training, arena and/or
pavilion rental and day camp program in place and also has the knowledge and
experience to assist in horse sale transactions. Yancey also has two English
instructors working with him to insure the boarders have a variety of
discipline instruction to choose from.

Cibolo Livery Stables exploded with new construction and
changes in 2005. The facility now has a brand new 125' x 280" covered arena
with a complete W-W Livestock Rodeo System, state of the art sound system
for covered arena, 12x24' climate controlled announcer's booth with new
bleachers on the way. A new 12 stall barn was also constructed in 2005.
The Martin's designed and planned for about every convenience
for their boarders such as 60' and 120' lighted round pens, lighted lesson
arena, hot walker, wash racks, 40 covered stalls, turnouts, three tack
rooms, cross country jump area, ranch riding areas, a trailer parking area,
stable office and 24/7 on-site management."
